Welcome ! My website is now dedicated to my pictures from Nigeria,
where I work on a monthly rotation.

Song of Life

A traveller on a dusty road, strewed acorns on the lee.
One took root and sprouted up and grew into a tree.
Love sought it's shade at even tide to breathe her early vows
And Age was pleased at height of noon to bask beneath it's bows.
The doormouse loved it's dangling twigs, the birds sweet music bore;
It stood, a glory in it's place, a blessing evermore.

A tiny spring had lost it's way amid the grass and ferns.
A passing stranger scooped a well, where weary men might turn.
He walled it in and hung with care a ladle on the brink,
And thought not of the deed he'd done, but judged that Toil would drink.
He passed again and lo the well, by summer never dried,
Had cooled ten thousand parched tongues and saved a life beside.

A nameless man amid the crowd that thronged the daily mart,
Let fall a word of hope and love, unstudied, from the heart.
A whisper from the tumult thrown, a transitory breath,
It raised a brother from the dust and saved a soul from death.
Oh germ, Oh fount, Oh word of love, Oh thought at random cast,
You were but little at the start, yet mighty at the last.
